Minutes from Charlotte, Lake Norman, and Mt. Island Lake, historic St. Mark's sits on 13 beautiful acres. We welcome the opportunity to share our peaceful church with you for your wedding ceremony, and to host your reception in our parish hall or on our scenic grounds.

Non-Member Wedding Packages at St. Mark's Episcopal Church

A. Ceremony Only

Package includes:

  • Use of the church for a one hour rehearsal
  • Use of the church for two hours on the day of                                                        your wedding
  • Use of the Parish Hall restrooms 
  • Music Fee (organist)
  • Sexton fees

Cost:  $1,050

B. Ceremony Plus

Package includes:

  • Use of the church for a two hour rehearsal
  • Use of the church, bridal suite, and groom's area for up to three hours on your wedding day
  • Use of the Parish Hall restrooms
  • Music Fee (organist)
  • Sexton fees

Cost:  $1,300

C. Ceremony and Reception

Package includes:

  • Use of the church for a two hour rehearsal
  • For a total of six hours, you'll have the use of the  following for your wedding and reception:
    • Church
    • Bridal Suite
    • Groom's Area
    • Parish Hall restrooms
    • Parish Hall 
    • Grounds
    • Music Fee (organist)
    • Sexton Fees

Cost: $2,000

Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Can non-members marry in the church?

A:  Absolutely.  We welcome non-members to be married at St. Mark's.

2.  Who performs the ceremony?

A:  If you are a non-member, you are required to bring your own priest, pastor, or officiant to conduct your marriage ceremony.

3.  Are there any pre-marital counseling requirements?

A:  Any premarital counseling and ceremony decisions are up to the presiding officiant you use. 

4.  How many guests can the church accommodate?

A:  The church is most comfortable for around 130 guests, but the maximum amount we allow is 150.

5.  Can we take a tour?

A:  For a self guided tour between the hours of 9am and 4pm Monday-Friday, contact the church office at 703-399-5193.  For evening or weekend tours, or to meet with our wedding coordinator, please contact Jackie McWhorter to make an appointment.  All contact information can be found below.

6.  Is there a space for the wedding party to get ready?

A:  Yes, we have both a Bridal Suite and a Groom's Area in our Parish House, which are available with the Ceremony Plus and Ceremony and Reception packages.

7.  What are the on-site options for a reception?

A:  Couples can hold their reception in our Parish Hall or in designated areas on our grounds.

8.  How many people can the Parish Hall accommodate?

A:  The Parish Hall can comfortably fit 100 people with tables and chairs.  If you don't have formal seating, then the hall can fit about 130 guests.  Any guest count above 130 would require the use of the grounds, or the Parish Hall in combination with the grounds as the reception area(s).

9.  What are the church's restrictions in regards to catering and alcohol?

A:  We do not have any restrictions when it comes to using a licensed caterer on the premises.  Alcohol is permitted, but must be obtained through the caterer to ensure proper licenses and insurance.

10.  Can we tent the property for an outdoor reception?

A:  Tents are permitted in designated areas on the property.  They are your responsibility to rent and the timing of the installation and removal must be approved by the church coordinator.
