St. Mark's Episcopal

Building community... living the way of Christ

Youth

The St. Mark's Youth ministry is for grades 6 to 12. The group meets in their own space on the lower level of the Parish Hall on Sundays at 9:30 am. Sometimes we also meet on Sunday evenings; please, see the St. Mark's calendar for information.

Matt Addington, Youth Minister and Director of Christian Formation (DCF), provides the youth with a non-confrontation place to ask questions and enable them to discern who God is call them to be. This gives youth  space to be creative in their thought process and actions. Matt utilizes current music, movies, and other media to bring the Gospel to life.

Our youth always enjoy being busy. Our mission work is local as well as world wide. The youth enjoy volunteering in the greater Charlotte area throughout the year. The group also engages in programs and ministries coordinated through the North Carolina Diocese.

Matt likes people to know that the Book of Luke is his favorite with Micah coming in a close second. He is especially influenced by the practices, methods, and theories developed by two German theologians of different time periods: Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Friedrich Schleiermacher. Also, Matt occasionally writes for the Truett Journal of Church and Mission.
