Rector: Reverend Father Garry Edwards

The Reverend Father Garry Edwards, present rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in the Diocese of North Carolina since September 2021. Previously, rector of St. Sebastian By The Sea in Melbourne, Florida from August 2017 until August 2021. Father Garry completed his education beginning at the Codrington College in 2014 and finishing at the General Theological Seminary in United States with a Masters in Divinity and Certificate in Spiritual Direction in 2017.
At St. Marks, Father Garry, together with being the Chief Pastor, he oversees the following ministries: Flying Lions, Ransom Middle School, McCoy Slave Cemetery and La Escuelita Preschool. As a Spiritual Director, he leads Pastoral Sessions.
Father Garry is married with two adult daughters and when not busy with family and church, he enjoys running, watching football and traveling - especially traveling to watch cricket. He was formally a member of St. Albans Anglican/Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York for 17 years where he served in many positions which included: Lay Eucharistic Minister, Chief Acolyte, Warden and Youth Director. He served on the board of the Long Island Episcopal Charities, part of the Long Island Episcopal Diocese. He was also a board member of the (COM-P) Commission on Ministry - Priesthood & Mission Endowment Board for the Diocese of North Carolina.
Prior to migrating to the United States in 1978, Father Garry’s early education, began at All Saints Primary School and the Coleridge and Parry High School, named after the first and second bishops of Barbados. He attended All Saints Anglican church in the parish of Saint Peter. It was there, where his faith journey began as an Acolyte and Sunday school teacher.
During his early life in the United States, Father Garry attended Brooklyn College of the city University of New York with a BA in Public Communications & Marketing. In his working career, he was prominent in the mortgage industry, serving many positions from Senior Mortgage Executive to President of his own mortgage company, specializing in educating low to moderate income borrowers in the value of home ownership. During his tenure, Father Garry conducted many home-buying seminars for first time homebuyers.
The mission to be a disciple of Jesus Christ is a special gift that Father Garry continues to be thankful and blessed.
